I ran across this the other day, cut-'n'-pasted it into my note area, and now can't for the life of me find the source. Nonetheless, it made me roar. Unknown poster, I salute you!

Aslan is what Jesus would have been if the Bible had been written by an American. After his "sacrifice", he comes back with a huge army and bites his enemy's f***ing head off. Much cooler.

LOL

I just picked up a copy of "Book of Night With Moon" today and it's amazing - I suspect there is going to be a mini-tug of war between my boyfriend and me over who gets to read it all the way through first!

Glad you're having fun with it! Enjoy.

(The trilogy is being completed, BTW. See over here (http://www.the-big-meow.com) for details.)

Book of Night with Moon is one of my all-time favorites and what brought me to the whole Young Wizard series... I re-read it and the sequel every so often and am enjoying the third book greatly. I can hardly wait until it is done and I can sit down and re-read the whole series in a few completely decadent days and nights!!

So CS Lewis is to fantasy what Rob Liefield is to comics (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/727946.html), then?

ANd it's been many years since I saw an actual John Wayne movie, so now I'm hearin' Aslan as voiced by Ryan Stiles doing a bad John Wayne impression.

Jesus was pretty petulant, though--I think it's the Gospel of Matthew where he shrivels a poor little fig tree solely because it didn't have any fruit (it was the wrong season) and he was hungry.

When we read that in my Bible as Lit class, my teacher wrote "Bad Jesus!" on the board. It remained there for weeks.

Hm, the quote shows up on google in the signature of "SylasGaunt" at the StarDestroyer.Net forums: (cached google link: http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:gkRPja6--8EJ:bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D67537+%22Aslan+is+what+Jesus+would+have+been+if+the+Bible%22&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1 ). And Darth Wong appears to be the original author of the quote?

"Aslan is what Jesus would have been if the Bible had been written by an American. After his "sacrifice", he comes back with a huge army and bites his enemy's f*cking head off. Much cooler. -Darth Wong"

...and, so far as I know, never ventured across the pond to visit the US...

I suppose you could try saying that TLTWATW describes the "second coming", but there is way too long between the TLTWATW and the Last Battle even for a pre-millenial dispensationalist viewpoint.
