The Transcendent Pig salutes a cousin

While working on something else, I just caught a teaser on Euronews about this exhibition marking the reopening of the National Palace Museum in Taiwan.

I'm a sucker for antique porcelain, and this stuff is sublime.

(BTW, Gung hei fat choi, everybody. It's the Year of the Fire Pig, which is supposed to be good for us Dragons. We'll find out...)

I'm a Fire Dragon!
Wow... looks like I should nick my manuscripts from the recycle bin, eh?
Maybe I should stick with pursuing creative writing.

Year of the Fire Pig

I think I understand why the restaurant menus tend to say "boar." "Pig" just sounds so weird in combinations like that....

*is an Earth Dragon* Guess this means I'd better be going on with college. Hm, better do my homework.

I like the label of the Sung 'temperature tester insert biscuit'. Very clever construction but I doubt the museum allows you to put soggy dough on it these days.

You might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] jonsinger's blog - he's doing some pottery, and occasionally writes up his current project and posts pictures. And they're gorgeous!

(Year of the Horse, speaking...)

Honestly, I'm getting almost sick of seeing all the pig things everywhere...I live in Taiwan (Rotary Youth Exchange). ^..^ It was fun at first, "yay, the year of the pig!" etc., but...now it's mildly smothering, all that pork. *grins*

At...one of the museums in Taipei, I forget just which, there's this Jade Cabbage. It was one of the most pointless things I've ever encountered, but still pretty. You can probably find pictures of it online. ^^

Happy New Year!

...a month late. *sheepish grin*

I remember the National Palace Museum well...we studied Chinese art there when I was on St. Olaf College's Term in China. Our group lived at Soochow University, which was just down the road from the NPM.

I often think I should have stayed in Taiwan; the biggest mistake I ever made in my life was getting on the plane that took me back to the States.
