Somehow I'd pictured "Giant Risk" as being kind of like Giant Chess, with actual people standing in for the gamepieces.

The local SF club used to play "Jupiter Risk" You place 3 (or more) Risk boards edge to edge. From there the details are fuzzy in my mind (it's been 25 years or so)
