I see that the Young Wizards series's Kit has made the 175 Cool Boys From Children's Literature list. Neat!

Also, a nice mention of the series in/on Blogcritics.org from Tiffany Leigh...

He should, because he was one of my first crushes. Ever.

There, I've said it, and now I can rest in peace.

(heh) Yes, he is a cutie, isn't he? But you ain't seen nothin' yet. Just wait till he turns up in A Wizard of Mars wearing the John Carter Memorial Loincloth. What there is of it. :)

*sputters*

Now I don't know whether to rush out and get the book when it comes out here, or stay in bed with my head in my hands moaning about this image I can't get out of my head.

(snrk) Doubtless there will also be some comment passed about what Nita winds up (somewhat) wearing. :) Very Dejah Thoris.

This is a 'young' adult book? *g* I wonder what the illustrators will make of it (I do have one of the original paperbacks of Door Into Fire!)...

BWAHAHAHA!!!

Oh man, I can just imagine the levels of embarrassment! Just one question: Does Carmela see him wearing it??

Well deserved! My other favorites from that list:
  • Sam from Trumpet of the Swan
  • Bud from Bud, not Buddy
  • Mario from The Cricket in Times Square
  • Billy from Where the Red Fern Grows

Maybe I'm partial to stories of boys with animals.

First off, congrats! That's some pretty heady company--Twain and Kipling and Sendak ... and of course Rowling.

I'm also happy to see Cleary's Henry Huggins in there too... that does take me back a bit longer than I'd care to admit.

Of course, there's one or two missing--Billy from "How To Eat Fried Worms" comes to mind (never underestimate the power of a gross-out book to a ten-year-old), but I find one especially glaring absence: where the heck is Danny Dunn? Is he completely forgotten now? Jeeze, that was my "pester Dad mercilessly to go to the library NOW!!" series! I think I read all those published through at least 1971 ... by the time '74 and the next book rolled around, I'd discovered Asimov and off I went like a jump-drive-powered shot. :)

A notable list, indeed, and one that brings back quite a few memories. (Wow, how long has it been since I thought about Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr?!) But where's Piemur??

If I may be so bold, I'd like to point you to this post of mine (http://mam-adar.livejournal.com/108638.html), where I've mentioned some of my favorite characters of yours.

As Kit should be. He's very accessible, very "real" to me. He has his flaws, he has his good points, and certainly has his moments. He's the kind of guy friend that some of us were lucky enough to have growing up. ;)

Nita's on the Girls list! Also very awesome. And..Polly Whittacker from Diana Wynne Jones' Fire and Hemlock? Outstanding! My favorite DWJ heroine. Should have been in the top ten, not Sophie. (Howl's Moving Castle? Over rated)

That's awesome. Kit's number one in my book because he talks to electronics. It amuses me immensely.
