I can't believe I'm watching "Krypto the Super-Dog" dubbed into Irish.  (As gaeilge:  Krypto, an Madra Iontach.)

Thank you, TG4...

Do you get subtitles?

You know, I have no idea. I should play around a little with the remote and find out.

Well, after all Diane, isn't his human friend named "Kevin"? (or am I mis-remembering?)

How does Ace the Batdog sound in gaelic?

Didn't see the human friend this time out. ...Ace sounds rather grim.

That's not as scary as "Krypto der Ueberhund" would be.

I'll grant you that. ;)

Was once subjected to the Rugrats in Scotch Gaelic.

TG4 has also shown the Power Rangers in Irish. Actually they're not a bad station, and show more sci-fi / fantasy related shows that RTE1 / 2 or TV3 - such as Birds of Prey, Carnivale, Twilight Zone.
Not to mention C.U. Burn - ok not sci-fi but a comedy.

If you don't mind my asking, how much Gaelic do you know? I realize it's not widely spoken in Ireland, although my stepdaughter did meet a cute boy there with a classically Celtic name, Cathal. And has Gaelic been any influence in your construction of the Speech for YW?

I have nearly zero Irish, unfortunately. It's spoken somewhat out in the west of the country, but Irish speakers would be rather scattered elsewhere, and very much outnumbered. Still, as I understand it, every student graduating the equivalent of high school must demonstrate a basic level of fluency in the language in ordre to graduate. (And many people so hate the way they're taught the language that they never speak it again if they can avoid it.)

As regards the construction of the Speech, there isn't any. :) Structure, that is. I refuse to ever produce more than a word or so here and there.
