For those of you who've been reading "A Wind from the South": a Google Earth placemarks file

I've been reworking the basic map that will be coming with future e-versions of A Wind from the South. It'll be a while before it's ready, though, so here's a stopgap measure.

For those readers who use Google Earth, I've uploaded a basic placemarks file that shows the major (and minor) locations involved in the book. You can download the file at this link.

(And yes, I'm looking into doing something similar for A Wizard of Mars. We'll see how that goes.)

Okay, I downloaded the thingy. How do I impose it on Google Earth?

As far as I can tell, File | Open should do it: then browse to where you stored the file. Or else, when the download window comes up (are you in Windows? I should ask...) say "Open With": Windows should recognize the filetype as belonging to Google Earth.

I guess now I'll have to read the book again (third time through) sitting near my laptop so I can follow along on Google Earth. Once I can find 6-8 hours to spare...

(chuckle) I know how you feel. I have this short story to write that ought to be started today..but somehow (with the fifteen other things piled up on my desk this morning) I have this feeling that it ain't gonna happen...
