Re the Rolling Stones' halftime performance:

About 2,000 volunteers surrounded the stage to give the performance the feel of a "real" concert, even thought it was largely designed for television viewers.

The NFL had originally tried to ban anyone over the age of 45 from dancing near or on the stage, but it backed off after it was pointed out that the average age of the Stones was 62.

Oh, Gods forbid anybody over 45 might be seen dancing. They could be passing themselves off as young: horrors!!

(eyeroll) Yet another reason for me not to bother with US football. Thank heaven spring training will be starting soon...

I happen to be 20 and I like old people music better than young people music. I totally would have "volunteered" to go to a Rolling Stones concert, even if it WAS at the *shudder* Superbowl.

But I'd want to take my parents with me because they're more fun at concerts than young people, so I guess the marketing geniuses would have kicked me out.

My kids often beg me to stop singing and dancing. Well, pretty much everybody begs me to stop singing *grin* and I'm not quite 45 yet.

Good god. They object to the Stones' original fans' *children* dancing to the Stones?

(guessing based on ages).

Good thing Emma Goldman (http://www.northlandposter.com/catalog/p289.html) didn't live to see this!

My friend [livejournal.com profile] tx_cronopio pointed out that, given the ages of the Stones, having them perform at the half-time show would be like having Jeannette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy do the same in 1970.

"When I'm calling youuuuuuuu...."

Oh, the horror! Considering just how pathetic the half-time performance was I’d say they failed in both the 'real concert' and televised feel. Actually, I found the constant shots of the barely post-teens groovin’ to the Stones far more disturbing. My husband’s constant question during the performance was “do they even know who the Stones are?”

Baseball fan huh? OK, critical question - Yankees or Mets? :)

Mets. (You may have noticed that a few comments are passed in the Callahan household in either TWH or WAW about Filif's Yanks cap.) :)

I noticed that, and guessed you're a Mets fan, but let's face it, everyone hates the Yankees, so I thought I'd ask *grins*

I'm going to see the Mets in May (squee!) - any Mets stuff I can get for you while I'm there? :)

Oh, gosh...I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. We were so shattered when Miss Bubble, Peter's cat, was killed last year. Took quite a while to come to terms with it.
