The funny thing is, the Real Ghostbusters cartoon show actually did this sort of thing. One of their Christmas episodes involved them slipping through a timewarp and trapping the ghosts of Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and returning to their own time to find they'd changed history and completely destroyed Christmas. So they had to go back and fix it.
