Pic of the Day: Wolverine thanks his creator

Before introducing footage from the new Wolverine movie, Hugh Jackman jumps down off the stage to shake Len Wein’s hand.

What a super moment! And so very deserved. 

 

Once he was back on stage, Jackman gave a really heart-felt speech to Wein saying, “I waited a long time to thank you personally and I wanted to shake your hand, mate. It’s one of the best comic book characters ever created and as an actor, it’s a challenge to play and I’ve just done it for the fourth time, and I still feel there’s more to find out and that’s down to you, from your great mind and heart creating a great character.”

Yay!

You know, I was glad they cast somebody who was a relatively "unknown" actor in the US when they did the first X-Men movie. I *love* the Wolverine character and as a long-time reader of X-Men/Wolverine comics I was skeptical that a "name" actor could do the part justice.

But Mr. Jackman? oo la la *snickety snick*, he's fantastic.

Now if they had only cast somebody more appropriate for Rogue, my total *squee!* fangirlgasm at the X-Men movies might've been complete. (Rogue's my favorite - so much so that I named my last cat for her.)
