Of course! What he actually did was to drive the dark wizards out of Ireland, but rather than name them they were known as "the snakes" from the symbol of Slytherin house.

I wish I could find the cartoon I cut out the Southern Star of St Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland. A long line of very rigid snakes bouncing past the Pfeizer factory at Ringaskiddy.
