Duane "Dog" Chapman of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" fame has just been released on bail after an arrest on foot of an extradition request from Mexico. They want him on a charge of illegal detention: apparently he chased a criminal to Mexico and caught him there. But bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico.
The part of the article that made that irony needle jump particularly hard:
The three men (Duane, his son Leland, and Tim Chapman, not a relative) were arrested Thursday morning by federal marshals armed with an extradition warrant related to their capture of [fugitive and convicted rapist Andrew] Luster, a Max Factor heir who was hiding out in Mexico under a fictitious name. But shortly after they caught Luster, the Chapmans were arrested by Mexican authorities.
They posted bail but never showed up for a hearing there on July 15, 2003.
They... jumped... bail. !!!
And life imitates art in other ways:
On the way [out of the courthouse], Chapman thanked his fans and said he was happy to be free, while his wife, Beth, kept shouting at him to "shut up."
...I think I need my tea now.
