Terragen 2.0 really is a wonderful toy. I've been using it for the Young Wizards international edition ebook covers, as well as other things.

It's also great for wallpaper. I was playing with terrains and water the other day, and this came up.

If you like it, feel free to download it -- it's hosted over at Box.net. The dimensions are 1920x1200.

I wish I could afford that. I have a planet I'm working on that's in dire need of such a tool. Though it's a megaplanet... Jupiter sized, hollow, Earth level gravity. So I don't know if Terragen would have the right scale.

I've used Terragen, in an earlier version, for album artwork, although I later moved to Bryce to do more surreal work. It's a neat piece of software.

Wow. I would totally have accepted that as a real photo. I especially like the lens flare across the middle from the sun (and the hint of 'rays'), I've had just that on photos taken into the sun. Not only is it simulating the terrain and sky, it's even duplicating material faults in the camera, I am really impressed!

(I tried the software, my machine is way too slow and small for it. I'm also not an artist, I don't really know what I'm doing with it, and the slowness of rendering makes experimentation tedious. But it obviously likes you...)
