To those folks who have outstanding requests for books that still need to be dealt with: Please bear with me for a day or so. I spent most of yesterday and some of today dealing with what I now discover was a gall bladder attack... and frankly I'm not in the best of shape right now.

(mutter) More shortly, after the ultrasound. Apologies for the interruption in service.

Deepest sympathies! Gallbladder attacks *hurt*! On the plus side, I have never missed the darned organ in the slightest.

Oh lord, Diane, you have my deepest sympathies. I hope it wasn't as bad as the ones I had a few years ago. My wife got an inkling when they did the ultrasound and said "That sucker's got to come out" and I replied "No problem--how does right now work?"

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Both my parents had to have gall bladder reconstructions (which has me eyeing my future health with suspicion) but since those reconstructions used laproscopic surgery they were in excellent shape quite soon after the procedures. Living in this World of Tomorrow of ours has its advantages sometimes.

-- Steve's hoping you take things easy; haste does not make speed in terms of recovery.

My mom had her gallbladder removed a few years ago, so I understand what you're going through. Word of advice: try not to overdo things during the healing process if surgery becomes necessary. Also, if your scars begin hurting months after the surgery, do not ignore it. There are two possibilities:

Either Voldemort has returned and danger is imminent, or else you have developed adhesions.

My mother developed adhesions of the scar tissue which caused her a lot of grief. Sometimes when the body is healing, excess scar tissue develops or is brought about by re-tearing your stitches. If you haven't noticed a rise in Death Eater activity lately, then this most likely is the case.

~wishes for speedy, thorough recovery~

Dear Diane Duane,

My mom has had gall Bladder attacks. And there is actually a VERY effective accupuncture treatment if it is what they call 'gravel' instead of stones. It doesn't require surgery or anything nasty. It uses a very small amount of electricity and accupuncture to basically make the gall bladder 'shiver' the gravel out and through your system.

I know about this because my other mom is an accupuncturist. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

I feel with you. If you're not sure, don't wait too long. I almost did and had so much pus that the assistant doctors later recognised me by that fact :P.

The surgery was minimally invasive and healing swift. However living without my gallbladder has led to rethinking eating habits in the evening, etc.

Good luck!

Oh, get better soon. Have your kitties come purr at you. Some researchers are thinking that cat purrs might have healing properties for the kitty, so they can't hurt you, right?

...I thought I would acquaint you with some of the results of my recent researches into the career of the late Doctor Samuel Gall, inventor of the gall bladder, which certainly ranks as one of the more important technological advances since the invention of the joy buzzer and the dribble glass.

--Tom Lehrer, An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer

Having had my gall bladder out some ten years ago (personally, I consider it the whoopee cushion of internal organs), I can both sympathize and empathize... take it easy, if this was your first serious one, it can really take it out of you.

I really hope you'll feel better soon. :) Good luck with the ultrasound. May the gall bladder be well!

I'm going to be horrible here and ask you a question that's just come up. I put a search for wizards at war audiobook into google and came up with the youngwizards.com site. It said there that it was available through iTunes, but when I went to the iTunes store and searched for it, nothing. 1-7 are there, but no 8.

No hurry on answering this please, I'm just curious. I have already bought and read the hardcover edition but I love the narrator's voice and the slower pace to listening to your books. I read very very fast.
