Please tell me this is a joke.

It is, although it can be hard to spot from the first page. If you continue then the description of the online evaluation method is rather a giveaway.

that's a joke site, isn't it?

Glad I noticed the 'spoof' tag before I got outraged!

Scary thing is, there probably are people who have their normal-weight babies and toddlers on diets to keep them from getting 'too fat'...

Anna Nicole Smith, anyone?

Babies are commonly fed watered milk or skim milk by fatphobic parents, yes.

Thanks for a smile at the beginning of the week. This is a joke page right?

As far as I can tell, yep. There are some giveaway lines here and there.

Thank goodness. Because, baby liposuction? Hell, no! It's sad that some people really believe that young children are too fat. They end up doing more harm than good, in my opinion. Speaking from experience, I was not overweight until after I started worrying about my weight as a teen. Even though I had six dance classes per week at the time, I still perceived that I was fat when I was, in fact, slightly underweight. Stress and low self-esteem resulted in battling an eating disorder. I would starve or fast, and then binge, then feel horrible because I'd cheated. I was exhausted from trying to live up to other people's expectations.

I'd like to see children encouraged to like themselves the way that they are, even if they are overweight. The worse you feel, the more difficult it is to eat right and exercise.

What scares me is that I had to take a moment to ask myself "Is this a parody site?"

Very well-done joke page!

[identity profile] dakiwiboid.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Lots of excellent parodies of real weight-loss pages. I loved the page where he offers to diagnose the baby's fatness via computer. Also the one where he scorns other doctors because they were tooling around in their electric golf carts while he was getting his training. And the side effects are hilarious!

Good spoof though I wonder how many would choose these options for their children (shudder)?

*points to lilisonna* That's the scary part, that for a whole few minutes, I thought this site was serious...

...which says far too much about the messed-up culture we're in.

[identity profile] krisw.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, there are probably people who will take it seriously and LIKE the ideas.

Personally, I think I'll just go on using my horribly fattening milk to nourish my babies =)

This was the MAJOR tip-off there......
