Without any doubt whatever, the most horrible cake I have ever seen

Yeeeeuuurrrrrrrrgh. What was this cake designer thinking of???

If I found myself at a party where that was sitting on the buffet or whatever, I would seriously consider leaving.

(shudder)

(Whereas this one merely looks like it wants to land at Area 51 or something.)

... Okay, ew.

Would anyone actually consider eating that?

The second one's neat-looking, though.

Oh, ew. That is wrong in so many ways.

It's like that 7th season episode of ST:TNG with Troi as the cake.

I believe that was the episode that had the classic line:
"It is a cellular peptide cake...with mint frosting!"

I'm not sure what it says about me that I can imagine several people I know reacting to that with glee...

...nothing complimentary, I'm sure.

Did you see the cake linked in the paragraph beneath it? The one to the cake that looks exactly like the bride (well almost exactly like the bride, that is one built cake)

I've been horrified by the first one since I first saw it, a good year or so ago.

[identity profile] lady-autumnstar.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Could have been worse-the cake part could have been red velvet.

For generally odd yet interesting cakes, though, I would direct you to Charm City Cakes of Baltimore, Pa.

Oddly enough, a friend of mine just posted a link to a James Bond wedding cake. (http://bp3.blogger.com/_wGr8njEWjtI/SIjrH83GQpI/AAAAAAAAALU/QnIfz0LnX3I/s1600-h/wedding-cake-jamesbond.jpg%22) Much more appealing than a baby cake. O.o

[identity profile] dameruth.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Dear. o_O

Wow, that's a great "bad cakes" blog -- thanks for the links, I'm gonna forward that URL around to the f-list! :D

These gave me the willies too. To make that first one even worse, it looks emaciated or dead. It's not even a cute sculpture that happens to be made out of edible materials. It would be a creepy sculpture no matter what it was made of.

This one (http://bp1.blogger.com/_wGr8njEWjtI/SDirlAAr2tI/AAAAAAAAADE/Z0QafZuMO6o/s1600-h/scary+baby+bum.jpg) is up there with it on the Ick Scale of cakes.

But this (http://www.offbeatenough.com/2007/10/10/james-bonds-wedding-cake/) is a nice antidote to the ick factor :)

LOL I visited that site a few days ago. There were quite a few cakes there that I cannot imagine a customer actually paying for, you know, after seeing how truly horrible they came out.

Aside from my daughter's food allergy, I now have another good reason to make my own cakes.

[identity profile] tuwr.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, it was created for a competition, not for eating.

(Well, I would eat it. But I am strange that way.)

Someone should make a modest proposal.

[identity profile] captainlucy.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Bad and wrong! Bad and wrong!

I'm reminded, though, of a line (and for the life of me I cannot remember where it's from, though it could be Shere Khan in the Jungle Book): "I love babies, but I couldn't eat a whole one..."
;)

If its not full of raspberry jelly I would be desperately disappointed.

Can you imagine whoever had to cut that? "ooh! I'll have some foot"

[identity profile] corvidophile.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
lol i love that site. some of them make you turn rather green. i mean seriously... who the heck would want to eat a deformed foot cake.

on purpose....

I hope I can do the link right - one of them made me laugh until I cried.

Adds a whole new meaning to "Aww she looks good enough to eat" or "Hiya sweetcheeks/ Babycakes"

The rest of the cakes on that blog are very funny too.

Though if you are looking for cakes that are works of art.http://www.mikesamazingcakes.com/default.asp?audvar=true&aud=Turn+Music+Off
These come under the category of almost too good to eat. (You'll have to be patient though it takes a little while to load.)

How the hell would ye be able to EAT that/

[identity profile] doctor-samuel.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
So I'm not the only one who really wants to take a big bite out of the face, am I?

[identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
oh my god. it looks like one of the works of that artist - Ron-something - who creates incredibly lifelike sculptures down to the last pore and then re-sizes them so you get giant babies or his dad, 2/3rd the size. Which is great as very awesome sculpture. But not as eating. unless the new fashionable entree at baby showers is longpig.

[identity profile] insanitys-place.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I went looking through the pictures and I laughed at the congratulations on your teenage pregnancy cake (http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2008/05/some-cakes-speak-for-themselves.html).
