And just before I take the flu medicine that will knock me on my butt....

(It's this stuff, BTW. You can only get it in Switzerland and Canada [but the Canadian stuff isn't as strong as the Swiss]. It's worth the trip. It does the job.)

...Videos about the writers' strike are coming up like mushrooms after the rain. Browsing through the dewy meadows of YouTube, I came across this one. I've always been a sucker for a strong graphic statement...)

I like that.

I'm also bemused by the fact that this strike has fans. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

I'm not sure the strike has fans per se. But the people who are striking sure do. See Deadline Hollywood Daily (http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com) and numerous other sources for details.

And there's this from Harlan Ellison-

Yo have to admit, Harlan has a unique way of saying something.

I'm Canadian, I didn't realise NeoCitran was so exclusive, and I've never used it myself. Hm. What does it work best for -- sore throat, stuffy head, etc.?

[identity profile] dduane.livejournal.com 2007-11-09 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It does well for all the symptoms. It tastes nice and gives you a quite serious jolt of psuedephedrine. It's hot, it's soothing on the throat, it decongests you. And it makes you sleep. Boy, when this stuff says "No operating heavy machinery", they're not kidding. I wouldn't use a can opener when I've had a Neo.

And typing is becoming something of a challenge. :)

I lose a lot of sleep when I'm sick... maybe I'll actually have to try that.

I never realised that Neo Citran was not available in other countries

//Excuse-me if I'm being presumptous butting in like this.

If you need more than you have in stock (and I imagine the trip here is not one you are in the mood for right now)I can send you some if you'll drop off a "sent to" at my lj email. CH to IR should only take a couple of days by airmail.

:)

I recognize every single quote in that video, and I'm about as isolated from popular culture as it's possible to get. Sometimes I've seen it in the original, the rest I know it from friends, know it's from some movie/video thing but not necessarily which.

I'm generally unsympathetic to the idea of unions, but I'm quite sympathetic to the goals of this strike, which is more important (specifics trumping generalities; in general). I do think the writers are undervalued, and setting things up so they get *nothing* from legal downloads is crazy, at the level of being not sustainable. And this sort of situation is one of the best arguments *for* unions being needed.

Film accounting and money-splitting is one of the weirdest areas of accounting anyway. Some sort of major clean-up would be in order, but I suspect the actual environment is so complex that mandated simplifications would turn out to misrepresent the real world badly. Sigh.

Yea! that's what I call sticking it to the man! That's wonderful!

Oh. They've come out with stronger Neo-Citran than that in Canada recently.

It's like they responded to the pseudoephedrine thing by making the shiniest box.

But the Swiss have the old-school packet, and that *rocks*.

Oh sure, any excuse to go to Switzerland, eh? :)
