*heh heh*

A moment from a screenplay:

EXT. SCHOOL -- AFTERNOON

The door into the playground cracks softly open. Kit peers out,
looks around. Then he slips out, followed by Nita.

From around the corner of the building, Joanne and her crowd emerge.
Nita and Kit pause, look at each other. Then, together, they head
toward Joanne and her gang.

A "High Noon" moment: the two factions move toward each other, Nita
and Kit grim and determined, Joanne and her bunch furious and bent on
revenge. As they close --

A REALLY BIG BANG of displaced air -- and, out on the playground, a
LEAR JET (with its engines idling) APPEARS out of nothing and DROPS
a couple of feet to the ground. Everyone stops right where they are,
staring.

                      KIT
              (astonished, impressed)
        What. The.

Joanne's gang, also astounded, do what everyone else in the area does:
they run over to look at the jet. Joanne, angry, goes after her posse.

                      JOANNE
              (to Nita)
         Later. Believe me.

Nita and Kit glance at each other, then at the still-flickering Fred
as he REAPPEARS between them.

                      KIT
         Fred! Nice going.

                      FRED
               (sounds sick)
I saw them, so I exerted myself a little.
         Can we go now?

                      NITA
         Yeah.

They head off around the corner of the building. Kit glances back
at the playground, full of the vast assortment of Fred's emissions.

                      KIT
What're they gonna do with all that stuff?

                      NITA
               (shrugs)
         Ebay?

They hurry O.S.

So Psyched!!!!

A movie is SUCH a good idea! I am so excited! With you writing the script I have no worries at all about being disappointed.*Jumps up and down in an
undignified manner*

I read a draft of the "Golden Compass" script not too long ago: it was terrific (but then it had been written by Tom Stoppard). I hope they don't move too far from what I read.

Screenplay? That just about makes my day.

Poor Fred, though. I always feel so bad for him and his Gnaester.

ALL RIGHT! Am very happy about this. CONGRATS!

[identity profile] conmoto.livejournal.com 2007-01-17 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I almost thought you were teasing, now I'm glad I read the comments! =)

Will you be putting up anything more of the screenplay? I'd definitely be interested in seeing how one of my favourite childhood books is developed into a screenplay.

Dear Powers That Be,

Please let the actors be better than in Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King. Failing that, turn the "High Camp" meter up to 11 so I can make another drinking game.

Love,
Angyl

I think we can safely say that Benno won't be in this. ;) For the most part, the other actors can't really be blamed: the direction, uh, wasn't optimal.

I can really only let out a scrap here and there: and after ink dries on the contract, probably nothing. But of course I'll be saving all my drafts for the DVD. :)

oooooooooh..... shiny.....

*fails to find her copy of SYWTBAW*

What did Nita originally say here instead of Ebay? And great update :)

I'd slip into netspeak to indicate how excited I am at the prospect of a movie for a fantasy book with the screenplay that's actually written by the author of said book, but that would probably make your eyes all sore.

So I'll settle for: WOOHOO!

[identity profile] lilly-rose.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ebay! Nita for the win!

Okay.

I greet this possibility with equal parts hope, trepidation, and sheer fan girl squee. But mostly squee. I read SYWTBAW when it first came out and I have been a fan ever since. To see these characters I've grown up with on the screen? Awesome. Bittersweet. Mindblowing.

Here's wishing!

Tom Stoppard. Really? Can't wait even more for this movie.

I just squeed so hard I hurt myself. Will there be any open auditions? ::is crossing fingers and hoping very hard::

[identity profile] terrylj.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Screenplay? *hyperventilates*

[identity profile] tortoises.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
*drools*

I want to be an actor now. Just so I could audition for this. Snerk.

I'm pumped. The ASOIAF announcement made me happy. This one on top of it makes me feel floaty. \o/

Please, dear sweet Jesus and all the Powers That Be, let us have Peter Jackson as the director. PLEASE.

[identity profile] paxluvfelicitas.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Homg. Homg. Homg. Homg.

If this gets made, I will be so incredibly happy I will dance. And sing. And go see it, many many times, even though I will be that sad, sad college kid going to a movie intended for preteens. But I will not care. Because it is Young Wizards.

YES!

I can't wait to see the perytons...

[identity profile] wolf-moonshadow.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Now that is wonderful news! You've made my day. I can't wait to see it.

Oooh! This would be wonderful. I've been wondering about this for years, but... oooh. And my love for Nita still knows no bounds...

[identity profile] the-lone-jen.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
...I think I just wet my pants. or something. Any chance we could have a fun little casting poll of who we think should play who (even though they never listen to the fans)?

[identity profile] uozaki.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Your director part and mine should get together for drinks.

But after I'm done having a squee.

[identity profile] auriond.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
God. A childhood dream come true. Another movie I'll likely watch three times in the cinema, and get the DVD as soon as it's released in the US.

Please, please Diane, cast unknowns for Kit and Nita! Though I think you already know that...
