Up out of bed today

In a gentle and limited way. As many of you have counseled me, I'm taking it easy.

Amusing things seen this morning: in the "It's Good to be King" dep't:

"Shut up!", King of Spain tells President of Venezuela

And he used "tu" instead of "usted." Whoa.

Also: How Mr. Burns Would Handle the Writers' Strike (Whoops! This link pointed back to the King of Spain story. Fixed now. Thanks, folks.)

(Heh heh. BTW, I found the link to this on WGA Strike News Digest. This is looking useful as a unified resource for strike-related news links and feeds.)

(...Oh, also, a note about the main "Out of Ambit" blog: For some reason it hasn't been updating correctly when I post here -- my present installation of WordPress seems to be broken somehow. It may take a while to figure out what's wrong. Apologies for the inconvenience. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can.)

heh. my husband used to swear by a concoction of gin and tomato juice and tabasco sauce. His excuse was that gin, since it was made from juniper berries, had a huge amount of Vitamin C and that tabasco helped the throat by heating it up and getting blood flowing there.

Personally, i think it just made him too drunk to care about the flu. ;-)

HOnestly, this soup has made a bunch of folks feel better. I get calls from across the US every year for "the soup." For sour throats or lost voices, I have two recipes---

bahamian cure - rum, sugar and lemon juice

Texan cure - whiskey, honey and lemon juice.

Mostly we use chicken corn soup and "drink orange juice til you puke." as the cure. Feel free to use the soup recipe, just give me a credit and send them to my website www.bevhale.com and I'll be happy camper.
